Imagine the surprise, after months or years of bringing the child to the doctor, testing medications and dosages, collapsing at the end of the day from exhaustion, finding out that you share something with your child that you had never thought of before - ADD.
In our studies and research work for this site, we have been put in touch with many parents of children with ADHD, and more frequently are seeing the parent end up with a diagnosis as well.
As a parent of an ADHD child, we watch them very closely, we monitor their habits to see if the meds are working, and we become very familiar with the traits of an ADHD child.
It's no wonder that some parents are seeing some very familiar things in this process, and turning that microscope back around to look at themselves.
But it may not always happen that way - parents might be too "distracted" worrying about the well being of the child to notice the same problems in themselves.
